Established in 1996 as part of the newly-founded Accademia di architettura, the library’s holdings consist of 65.000 monographs, 1900 audiovisual documents (CD-Rom, DVD, VHS etc.), and 650 current periodical titles (as of 7/2011).
Subjects covered by the Library include:
- History and theory of architecture and urban planning from antiquity to the present
- Environmental studies and landscape design
- Architecture in Ticino, contiguous regions and the Mediterranean
- Alpine architecture
- Vernacular architecture
- Bioarchitecture
- Art, design, photography, and film studies
The library holds the bequests of
Enzo Frateili, Jacques Gubler, Gino and Gianna Macconi, Virgilio Vercelloni, Augusto Guidini Sr. and Jr., Stanislaus von Moos, Pietro Bianchi, Carlo Gastone Rezzonico della Torre, Augusto Rima.
